Crocheted Wash Cloths

It's not too early to start crocheting up some little Christmas gifts for friends and family! These little crocheted wash cloths are quick and easy to make. With a little yarn, a crochet hook, blunt eye yarn needle and a little time you can crochet something pretty cute! I found the grit stitch washcloth pattern at Lionbrand. The little flower cloths make great face cloths or coasters. I can't remember where I got the pattern for them, but just google flower face cloths or flower coasters and you should find plenty of free patterns.

My Mom and Sister look forward to these every year. My sister says nothing can compare (or at least that is what she says)! Tie them up with a pretty ribbon and you have a cute gift without much cost or time!

Hand Knit C H U N K Y Pumpkin Colored Cowl

No other color reminds me of fall more than the beautiful, warm and vibrant color orange. I have visions of pumpkins, beautiful autumn leaves and the colors in a beautiful fall sunset. Again the knitting needles have been happily humming along as I knit this cozy warm cowl. I think I want some hot chocolate!!

New Fall Cowl

I am so excited and have been busy, busy knitting and crocheting my new cowls and scarves for the upcoming season! Any knitter or crocheter knows what a true labor of love goes into an item as it is quite labor intensive and time consuming. I hand knit this cowl in the round which gives a nice seamless construction. It is knit in a medium purple shade, sort of a plum color of yarn that is super chunky and warm! I then hand crocheted a fun loopy flower in a multi color WOOL yarn that is full of havest colors like deep purple, orange, greens and other wonderful harvest colors. I also added hand crocheted leaves that are made from an acrylic yarn and are shades of green and a brick color. Each embellishment was then handsewn in place to create a truly unique fashion piece that will be an awesome addition to a fall wardrobe and keep one toasty warm while looking FABULOUS!

Whew....... It's in the high 90's and cooler weather seems soooooo far away!! But.... I have been crocheting and knitting up a stor.!! The air conditioner is running full blast as I sit with yarn in my lap! Oh my!

Hand Knit Sky Blue Chunky Cowl

I guess I am dreaming of fall! It's hot as the dickens here and I sure could go for a little cool nip in the air! August is dreadfully hot but I think that the humidity is the worse part of it. So while I have been dreaming of fall, I have had the knitting needles out. I hand knit this chunky cowl from a super bulky acrylic and wool blend yarn. I love the vintage '60's enamel pin! What a pop of vintage fun!

The Beginnings

Hello all!! Welcome to my new blog Crochet Candi! I am so pleased that you happened by! It's a miracle to be found among millions and millions of internet sites that are out there now! So if you happened to find my little blog a big WELCOME to you!! I hope you will bookmark my little blog and stop by again. It can be awfully lonely when you are just starting out in blogland!!

My little hands have been busy, busy, busy trying to crochet enough items to at least get started in my Etsy shop Crochet Candi. And the crocheting is just a small piece of it! Once the creating is done, then there are the photos and the item listings and the promoting and .....oh my goodness.....am I sure that I want to undertake all of this? Will it be successful??? I can only pray that it will!! It seems that time is getting away from me faster and faster as it is and there already seems not to be enough hours in the day! But, with God's blessings I will onward go!!

First, I want to acknowledge a very sweet elderly lady that I am very thankful to and who taught me to crochet years ago. Her name was Mrs. J.B. Collie of Atlanta. Her husband worked with my father and she and her husband lived in our neighborhood, around the block. One day she was making a beautiful crocheted afghan that had gorgeous red roses on it. I was mesmerized as I sat watching her hands create, the yarn flowing thru her hands as she formed beautiful roses that she was making for an afghan that she was making. I asked her if she minded if I sat closer to her so that I could watch her. I had always wanted to know how to crochet, but I did not know anyone who knew how. My Mother was good at so many things but she did not know how to crochet either. So I watched Mrs. Collie and asked question after question. Before long she quietly got up and said wait here and she went and got a crochet hook and a skein of Red Heart yarn and handed it to me and the process began. She taught me the basics of crochet and taught me how to do the roses, which I still continue to make along with other variations of roses. Every few days or so I would stop by and she patiently taught me. She passed away many years ago. I am so thankful to her for having taken the time and having the patience to teach me. It has brought me much joy and contentment throughout the years. So here's to you Mrs. J.B. Collie!! Thank you!! I hope that I can inspire some of you to pick up a crochet hook and begin to create with your hands!
